But the procedure they recommended to fix the problem was complicated beyond anything I'd be willing to tackle even with having done a lot of my own repairs in the past. On contacting Macrium, they responded well. It seemed to be backing up just fine for quite awhile. Is it the best? Well, I am sure that there are many excellent utilities out there that may be just as good, but Reflect is certainly one of the best.Īfter a lot of frustration with backups, a tech installed Macrium Reflect free edition.
I have used it on every system from XP to Windows 10 with smooth performance and no issues. Reflect has done, literally, dozens of restores over the years and never failed, either me or any of those folks whose systems I set up for them. All those that have failed me did wonderful backups, but failed to restore. The real test of any backup product is when it is time to restore. I addition, it has regular updates that have never been bad or corrupted, and are also free. It has never failed, not once, either me or them. I also recommend it to all those that I set up backup systems for. I have used Macrium Reflect free editionfor at least 5 years. I tried direct phone calls and received only voicemail messages with promises to respond, and never got a return call.Ĭall me a grudge-holder if you will, but I cannot trust a company like that. I attempted to contact their direct help email twice with no reply. I tried their help forums with no result. I sat in front of that computer for two complete days trying everything written or imagined in an attempt to get it to restore with no success. One day my unit crashed with a corrupted OS and I attempted a restore. Interesting the the two links referenced above post Acronis as the first suggestion I used Acronis retail about 5 years ago for about 6 months. Over a 25 year period I have used many backup utilities, and every one has failed at one point or another.
Would be grateful for any assumtions or recommendations?
I would like to avoid uploading personal files to the cloud, so I`m looking for an offline solution that would track changes in several folders and backup each new file when launched (or connected). I`ve found the relatively fresh lisf of backup software, but still there is no answer to the question.
Now is the question: are there any tools that could monitor the changes and backup all new files to the external HDD? All software setup files stored at two independent USB drives, so it is possible to take clean new compter and to deploy the workspace in several hours. The only difficulty is you need to copy each new file by hands.ģ.
Copies of work-related and personal files stored at external portable HDD. All work-related files are stored on the cloud (another point is that it gives access from any computer or smartphone),Ģ. After restoring the data for several time I`ve created the following system of data loss protection.ġ.
